Oradent Associates is proud to offer cutting-edge treatments for those with missing or severely damaged teeth. Dental implants are a permanent, comfortable, natural-looking solution that can replace your teeth without full or partial dentures. With this dental implant procedure, you can greatly improve both the appearance and function of your teeth—not to mention your self-esteem!

Why Dental Implants?

There are a number of reasons that dental implants are considered one of the most successful cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry treatments for tooth loss or damaged teeth. You might consider dental implants for any of the following reasons:
  1. They look and feel completely natural. These titanium implants fuse to your jawbone, allowing them to feel and behave like a natural tooth. And with the custom-made dental crown placed over your implant, they will blend in seamlessly with the rest of your smile.
  2. They will improve the function of your teeth. By replacing your damaged, decaying, or missing tooth with a stronger, sturdier artificial tooth device, you’ll enjoy major improvements to your chewing and swallowing mechanisms, speaking abilities, and facial structure.
  3. They are low maintenance. To keep your dental implant in good shape, you’ll simply need to keep a healthy dental home care routine, which includes brushing, flossing, and rinsing with mouthwash daily.
  4. They are permanent. Dental implants have a very high tooth replacement success rate. With a proper oral hygiene routine, these tooth replacement devices should last you the rest of your life!

Are Dental Implants Right For You?

You may be considering a number of options for replacing damaged or missing teeth. Your dentist at Oradent Associates will be able to help you with your decision! There are, however, a few factors that may come into play in determining whether or not dental implant surgery is right for you. For example, it is important that you are in good health prior to getting dental implants. A history of chronic illness like diabetes or leukemia may create difficulties in your healing process after the oral surgery. Also, it is important that your jaw structure is substantial enough to sustain these implants, as the titanium will ultimately fuse with your jawbone. Finally, if you’re a tobacco user, it is possible that these implants may not be right for you.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

During a dental services consultation in our Lincolnwood dental office, your implant dentist will determine if you’re a good candidate for dental implants. They will then work with you to create a treatment plan that you’re comfortable with. On the day of the dental implant procedure, your dentist will put you under anesthesia and extract the teeth that are severely damaged or decayed. Your implant dentist will then install a titanium screw in its place. This will take some time to heal, as your implant will ultimately fuse with the jawbone. Once this process is complete, you will have a custom-made dental crown placed over your implant so that it blends in perfectly with your smile. The overall implant placement process takes about 6-12 weeks, but you should experience only mild soreness for which you can take over-the-counter pain medication.
